Creative Writing Workshop with Cathi Rae - 10 May 2026

Try your hand at creative writing - The Sunday morning edition!

Have you ever felt you might have a poem, a short story or any sort of creative writing just waiting to burst out and bloom?

Why not spend a relaxing and supportive Sunday morning under the gentle guidance of an experienced creative writing tutor, trying your hand at some introductory writing tasks and prompts. There will be a strong focus on practical and accessible prompts, lots of time to write and share work and take that first step in allowing our creative skills to grow. You don't need any previous experience to take part and there will be nice coffee and biscuits too.

Participants will need to bring something to write with... paper, a notebook, a digital device if that's more comfortable or a laptop.
By the end of this workshop you can expect to have written 2 poems and a super short story (a piece of flash fiction). You will also leave the workshop with a mini resource pack with good tips and writing prompts to continue your creative writing journey.

Cathi Rae is a poet and spoken word artist, somewhat accidentally living in the East Midlands.

She teaches creative writing for adults and is a freelance educator and workshop facilitator. 

She has an MA in Creative Writing from the University of Leicester and has just completed a practice-led PhD in Poetry.
